Care and Handling Instructions

Care Instructions

Caring for Your Handmade Treasures

Every piece from Bedlam Stitchery & Designs is handcrafted slowly and intentionally using a variety of yarns, fibers, cords, and decorative materials. Proper care helps preserve the beauty, texture, and longevity of your handmade creations for years to come.

Because handmade artistry deserves gentle care.

Crochet & Fiber Art Care

For crochet items, plushies, baskets, floral creations, accessories, and textile pieces:

Recommended Care

  • spot clean whenever possible
  • use cool water and mild soap if needed
  • gently reshape while damp
  • lay flat to dry
  • avoid wringing or twisting

Avoid

  • high heat
  • bleach
  • harsh detergents
  • machine drying
  • prolonged soaking

Heat may damage fibers, alter shaping, or affect decorative elements.

Plushies & Bound Familiars

Handmade plush companions should be handled gently to preserve:

  • shaping
  • stitching
  • embellishments
  • safety eyes
  • decorative details

Spot cleaning is strongly recommended.

Plush items are not intended for rough machine washing unless specifically noted in the product description.

Baskets, Vessels & Structured Pieces

Woven vessels, bowls, trays, and structured crochet pieces may soften or lose shape if exposed to excessive moisture.

To Maintain Shape

  • keep dry when possible
  • reshape gently by hand if needed
  • avoid heavy crushing or folding
  • store upright when not in use

Floral Creations

Crochet flowers and botanical arrangements are intended primarily as decorative pieces.

For best longevity:

  • keep away from prolonged moisture
  • avoid direct sunlight for extended periods
  • dust gently with a soft cloth or cool air

Macramé & Hanging Décor

Macramé and hanging fiber art may naturally shift or settle over time.

To maintain appearance:

  • gently comb fringe if applicable
  • reshape knots carefully by hand
  • avoid excessive pulling or stretching
  • display indoors whenever possible

Wearable Accessories

Scarves, shawls, scrunchies, and wearable fiber accessories should be:

  • hand washed when possible
  • air dried flat
  • stored away from rough surfaces or snagging materials

Candles & Decorative Accessories

For candle accessories, altar décor, burners, or mixed-material pieces:

  • keep away from open flame unless designed for heat use
  • follow all candle safety recommendations
  • wipe clean gently with a dry cloth

Natural Handmade Character

Over time, handmade items may soften, relax, or develop subtle texture changes through use. This is part of the lived-in charm and evolving beauty of handcrafted artistry.

No two pieces age exactly alike.
